Pietà
Theme: Mourning the dead Christ. In the strict sense pietà compositions should only include Christ and Mary, but we have chosen to apply a broader sense in our system, thus including art showing other characters as well. As the descent from the cross, the lamentation (pietà), and the entombment are closely related scenes connected to the same occasion,
the sorting of the pictures under these three headings may be highly disputable.
