Notes: Images on Christ Project. Artist's comment: "Imagine the creator of this world being hung on a cross. The author of light has died. If so then light itself has died with him. Apart from Christ there is nothing but darkness. Yet because of his death we have light and life itself. In this painting you are viewing an upside down sunset that occurred when he died. Why is it upside down? When Christ died on the cross it was the beginning of everything being turned right side up instead of being upside down—in His Father’s eyes, in His Father’s plan. The cruel symbol of the cross as a means of death would become a symbol of life. The first Adam brought death, the second Adam (Christ) has brought life. It is all about a new beginning, even now, even today. An upside down sunset you see—becomes a sunrise."
