Images on Christ Project. Luke 7:37-50. Artist's comment: "In this large painting the most dominant visuals are the hands of Christ. With His right hand we see him accepting the worship of Mary. With his left hand we see his forgiveness and compassion. As the viewer focuses on the right hand, there is another level of meaning to be viewed. This hand was the one nailed to the cross. As one looks past the hand, there is revealed one of the thieves hanging on the cross. Here we see compassion fulfilled through the cross of Christ and sins forgiven. The moon symbolizes God the Father. The transference of divine forgiveness is shown through the color blue. This symbolic gesture in painting is one that is never found in iconistic work with the exception of depicting halos on the Saints and Christ."
