Images on Christ Project. Artist's comment: "We know very little about Jesus as a boy. The only entry in scripture is where we find Jesus teaching in the synagogue while Joseph and Mary search franticly for him. In this simple lighthearted painting we focus on the Fatherhood of Joseph. Here he has taken the young Jesus out for a walk to observe the beauty of birds in flight. Yet the boy Jesus is oblivious to his Father, as the bird lesson becomes a lesson of worship for the birds acknowledging their creator. We do not read much about Joseph as a Father, a humble carpender. Imagine Jesus as a young man in his late twenties. Now imagine him standing next to the death bed of his father Joseph. Now imagine how he must have felt. The author of life watching his earthly Father die. I suppose I have carried this scene a bit too far. But you see, art should make you ask questions beyond what you see."
