  Artwork: Crucifixion
  Artist: BONNELL, Daniel
  Technique: Painting
Notes: Images on Christ Project. John 19:19-22. Artist's comment: "Satan has his moment, though very brief. God the Father turned His back on His Son. It seemed, for just a moment, that Satan had won. Here we see the face of the adversary in the storm. The glory of God the Father has not abandoned His Son. We see that there is a shadow cast upon the back of the cross. In this painting humanity is represented as a huddle of brown (earth tone) mass looking like lost forlorn sheep. The most dominate element in the painting is the cross itself which stands out like a visual stake that the viewer must come to terms with. This is a symbolist painting, in that while it does not necessarily carry a strong visual tune, the depth of its meaning is as a transparent poem that convicts the reader."
