Notes: Host's comment: "Jesus made it clear that He was the fulfillment of Isaiah 61:1, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion…” With that passion, Pastors and Ministers today long to follow in the footsteps of the Master to fulfill that same mission. They know they have been “sent” not just to a job, but to a “calling”. It doesn’t take long sometimes for many of them to realize the size of the shoes they are filling, as well as the difficulty of the task. Discouragement, doubt and meager results sometimes give a servant the temptation to quit. Many have and too many think about it. Is there a secret to survival? The Legacy was created to help remind ministers of that secret – that every time they preach the Word, they are surrounded and uplifted by a great cloud of witnesses testifying to the truth of Scripture. The translucent images in The Legacy portray those witnesses and standing next to the preacher is the greatest Shepherd of all times, our Lord." Artist's note: "The Legacy was painted for the express purpose of encouraging Ministers that “a great cloud of witnesses” indeed surrounds them (Hebrews 12:1). As demonstrated in the Bible by many “heroes of the Faith,” every sermon is a chance to bring someone into the Kingdom of Heaven or closer to our King. Just as John had to face those wanting to behead him for his preaching, Moses had the grumblers, and Elisha had the Arameans, Ministers today have to contend with those who are watching the clock so as not to be late to the restaurant. While not as deadly, it is just as discouraging. If each time a sermon is given, a Minister had the chance to peek behind the curtain of this dimension, I have a feeling he would see those who are cheering him on, especially noting Jesus’ promise that He would be with us if two or more were gathered together in His name! Expect the fire to fall the next time you stand behind the pulpit, and imagine those who would tell you it’s too early to quit! I have a feeling you’re preaching will never be the same. Maybe the results will be more than you can expect! Jesus, John, Moses, Paul, Peter, and Elisha and many others are counting on you…and so are we!"
