Host's comment: "Generations passed since the Lord lead the Israelites from bondage in Egypt to conquer the promised land. Samuel, aging judge and prophet of the Lord, is approached by the elders of Israel to replace the leadership of judges with the rule of kings. The elders desired a monarchy like the surrounding pagan nations. Samuel explained at length the repression which would result, nevertheless, the elders insisted. By denying the leadership plans of the Soverign God, history reveals a loss of God-given freedom, perpetual conflict and return to bondage. Until the day God is acknowledged as the True Sovereign, and Jesus Christ returns to rule in righteousness over His kingdom, man will not be free to live in peace.
(1 Samuel 8)"
