According to host, the illustration is found in "Treasures of the Bible" by Henry Davenport Northrop, published by International Publishing Company 1894. "The Wandering Jew": A medieval story tells that when Jesus was carrying his cross along the streets of Jerusalem, he stopped a moment at the door of a Jewish shoemaker to ease him of his burden. But the shoemaker came forth and brutally bade the Saviour pass on. For this he is condemned to be himself forever passing on, roaming from land to land, seeking rest but finding none until Christ comes again.
