From the "St. Albans Psalter", created at St. Abans Abbey essentially by Geoffrey de Gorham (or Gorron), Abbot of St. Albans (1119-46). Psalms 147:15, 18: God hurtles downwards. Flying from his mouth is a bird who flies down a shaft to the earth. "Who sends forth his speech to the earth." Earth is depicted as a block of ice surrounded by melting water.
