Comment: ""Christmas" is a leaded Venetian glass mosaic panel commissioned by Augsburg Publishing House, Minneapolis, for the full-color covers of its Christmas Annual of Art and Literature and was subsequently purchased by Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, Minnesota. A radiant Mary holding the Christ child is a focal point of this panel.
They stand near the stable birthplace at the edge of Bethlehem. Barren boughs trace colorful, lacey patterns against the starry evening sky. In the distance, tents of shepherds are visible and a flock of sheep drink from a meandering stream as the Magi near the end of their long journey to present gifts to this new King. Within the branches are subtle glimpses of modern buildings suggesting the
timeless nature of this miraculous event -- when God came to live among and as one of us."
