From a series illustrating all the 150 psalms. Psalms 70:2. Artist's comment: "Crying out, David invokes the Divine attribute of mercy. The King's face is surrounded at the bottom by blazing flames of violence and on the top by the protecting wings of angels. In the middle his emblem, a bird - David was the sweet singer of Israel - is also surrounded by opposing forces, but nearby the Yod stands for the presence of Hashem, a reminder that salvation is always in perspective."
